Cargoways and Quarra Mega Block Move

Recently, we were contacted by a customer to move a very special block of granite from Brazil to their facility in Wisconsin. The block weighed close to 44 metric tons (that’s 97,000 pounds), with dimensions of about 8’ x 8’ x 8’. The challenges involved in this movement began with the quarry in Brazil locating a truck able to move a block of this size to the port, finding the right ocean carrier with equipment to handle static (non-wheeled) cargo of this size, to locating a heavy hauler to safely transport this block from the US port through to our customer’s yard in Wisconsin. From here, there is no doubt that this beautiful stone will be fashioned into a spectacular piece of artwork by the expert stone artisans at Quarra Stone.
