Where It All Began
Cargoways traces its origins to 1976, when the first company was incorporated as an NVOCC in Massachusetts. The business gradually expanded its operations, developing non-asset-based warehousing activities in Savannah and Houston while continuing to build its presence in international transportation.
A significant turning point came in 2001, when the Navalmar Group, based in the United Kingdom, acquired 100% of the shares of Cargoways Group. This change in ownership marked the beginning of a new chapter, establishing the foundation for the investment, expansion, and development that followed.
Broadening Our Experience and Deepening Our Expertise
Following the acquisition in 2001, the Navalmar Group introduced new management and began a significant period of investment in Cargoways Group. The company expanded its physical infrastructure while strengthening its transportation and international logistics capabilities.
By 2004, Cargoways had completed the acquisition of two asset-based warehouses, one in Houston, Texas, and another in Norfolk, Virginia. The Group continued to expand its international reach with the opening of representative offices in Canada and Mexico, while its Customs Brokerage division, established in 2002, became an important part of its growing range of services.
In 2010, Cargoways acquired a third asset-based warehouse in Houston, further expanding its capacity and establishing the foundation for the network that continues to support the Group today.
Dedicated to Continuing Our Legacy
Since 2010, Cargoways Group has entered a period of consolidation and steady development, continuing to invest in its facilities and strengthen its operational footprint.
In Houston, the Group divested its smaller warehouse and developed a new, larger facility adjacent to its main site, creating a more efficient and capable base of operations. In Savannah, Cargoways expanded its presence with the opening of a large, modern warehouse located just seven miles from the container port terminal.
Today, these investments form an important part of Cargoways Group’s asset-based network, supporting its continued growth across warehousing, transportation, international freight, and customs services.
